Celebrating Success: 11 Sri Lankan Students awarded DAAD Scholarships
On 25 April 2024, an evening of celebration unfolded as 11 exceptional Sri Lankan students were handed over their DAAD scholarship certificates over a dinner reception at Radisson Hotel Colombo organised alongside the DAAD Alumni Meet. The ceremony was a joyous occasion as these scholars received their certificates from His Excellency Dr. Felix Neumann, the Ambassador of Germany to Sri Lanka. Dr. Katja Lasch, Director of DAAD Regional Office New Delhi also addressed this gathering.
Among the recipients, six received the Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS) scholarship, enabling them to follow a postgraduate degree at a German university. The other five students were bestowed with the University Summer Courses scholarship, with which they can follow short-term language, regional studies and technical language courses.
The dinner reception provided a platform for both celebration and networking. This occasion was graced by Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Chairman of the University Grants Commission and other officials from the German Embassy in Colombo and other German partner organisations.
For the 11 scholarship recipients, this milestone represents more than just academic recognition – it signifies the beginning of a transformative journey for them.
